Sebuah program pengembangan komunitas yang dikembangkan oleh PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (PT RAPP), unit operasional APRIL di Riau, memberikan kesempatan-kesempatan transformatif bagi pengusaha-pengusaha lokal dengan mendorong pertumbuhan bisnis usaha kecil menengah. Berikut adalah beberapa cerita mereka:

Dari penebang ilegal menjadi bos pemenang penghargaan

Bagi Tengku Effendi, 47 tahun, perubahan pekerjaannya tidak terbayang akan sedrastris ini. Dahulu ia adalah seorang perambah hutan ilegal, dan kini ia menjalankan sebuah usaha jasa transportasi di kampung halamannya di Desa Lubuk Bungo, Provinsi Riau.

Ia bergabung dengan program ini pada tahun 2006. Bapak dari tiga anak ini mengakui bahwa peralihan dari seorang perambah ilegal menjadi menjalankan sebuah bisnis yang sah merupakan hal yang sulit, ia terus mengembangkan usahanya dan pada tahun 2014 perusahaan miliknya memenangkan penghargaan dari PT RAPP karena menerapkan prinsip-prinsip yang mengutamakan aspek kesehatan dan keselamatan di tempat kerja.

“Bukanlah hal yang mudah untuk mengubah apa yang biasa saya kerjakan dengan menjalankan sebuah usaha jasa transportasi, namun program ini telah mengajarkan saya banyak hal mengenai bagaimana menjadi seorang pengusaha”, ujar Tengku yang mana perusahaannya, PT. Idlal Bersaudara, mendistribusikan pupuk ke PT RAPP.

Manager Pengembangan Masyarakat PT RAPP, Sundari Berlian, mengungkapkan perusahaan kini bekerja dengan 190 mitra yang terdaftar – termasuk kontraktor bangunan, transportasi dan pemasok tenaga kerja, operator truk air, dan pemasok bibit.

Husni Thamrin bergabung dengan program ini pada tahun 2001 dan mendirikan perusahaan pertamannya, PT Taro Putra Pesisir. Kini, pria berusia 37 tahun ini beserta istrinya, Rohani, menjalankan sebuah bisnis alat berat dan penyewaan truk dengan aset mencapai Rp 100 miliar.

“Saya tidak memiliki latar belakang sebagai pengusaha. Usaha pertama saya adalah mengemudikan truk sampah ayah saya. Saya secara bertahap menjadi mengerti tentang bisnis ini, saya menyadari bahwa terdapat kesempatan bagi saya untuk mengembangkannya. Saya berterima kasih kepada program ini yang telah membina banyak pengusaha lokal, termasuk saya,” ungkap Husni.

Pada tahun 2004, Husni mengubah nama perusahaannya menjadi PT Nilo Engineering untuk menghormati tempat kelahirannya, “Nilo”, sebuah desa di Riau.

“PT Nilo telah berkembang bersamaan dengan tingginya permintaan penyewaan unit-unit alat berat PT RAPP,” kata Husni. Seluruh 30 unit alat berat dan 25 truk PT. Nilo disewa oleh PT RAPP.

Pengusaha bangga menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan untuk orang lain

Sulaiman memasok sabut kelapa (coco peat) ke tujuh  kebun pembibitan milik PT RAPP untuk menumbuhkan bibit Akasia dan Eukaliptus. Perusahaannya, PT Rifky Pratama Sanjaya, yang berbasis di Pangkalan Kerinci, ibu kota dari Kabupaten Pelalawan di Provinsi Riau, kini mempekerjakan 40 orang.

Sejak bergabung dengan program ini, ia berhasil meningkatkan pasokan sabut kelapanya dari 30 ton saat satu bulan awal beroperasi, menjadi sebanyak 600 ton.

“PT RAPP tidak memberikan modal untuk investasi, namun memberikan rekomendasi kepada Bank Mandiri dan Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI),” ujar pria berusia 38 tahun ini. Ia memperoleh pinjaman sebesar Rp 1 milyar ($75,000) dari dua bank tersebut yang kemudian ia gunakan untuk membeli sejumlah mesin, membangun gudang, dan sisihkan sebagian sebagai modal kerja.

Ia merasa bangga karena dapat memberikan lapangan pekerjaan bagi orang lain. Ia berkata, “Salah satu pekerja saya dulunya bekerja serabutan membantu ayahnya sebagai nelayan, dan pendapatan mereka paling banyak hanya Rp 1 juta per bulan. Dengan bekerja di sini, mereka memperoleh pemasukan yang lebih besar, dan bahkan beberapa di antaranya mendapatkan Rp 4 juta per bulan.”

 

 

Sejumlah perempuan merangkai masa depan yang baru dengan batik

Hari Fitri Ramdhani, 32 tahun, dari Kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau, tidak pernah membayangkan ia akan hidup dari batik, sebuah kain tradisional yang diwarnai dengan warna alami yang identik dengan kerajinan dari Jawa.

Melalui program pengembangan masyarakat ini, PT RAPP mendanai pendirian Koperasi Andalan, mendirikan sebuah lokakarya bagi rumah produksi “Rumah Batik Andalan” atau RBA dan sebuah toko untuk menjual kerajinan tangan batik.

Koperasi ini mencari perempuan-perempuan untuk dilatih dan kini 10 di antaranya bekerja di RBA. Semua perempuan belajar mengenai bagaimana cara membatik dari awal, namun kini mereka telah membuat lebih dari 130 buah pakaian batik dan meraup Rp 20 juta  per bulan dari penjualannya. Mereka dilatih oleh para ahli pengrajin batik dari Solo, Yogyakarta dan Pekalongan.

Fitri mengatakan pendapatan dari membatik membantu ia dan suaminya, yang bekerja sebagai montir serabutan, untuk membeli sebuah rumah. Ia menambahkan, “Kami kini memiliki pembeli lain, seperti tamu-tamu PT RAPP yang membeli batik sebagai cinderamata, pegawai pemerintah daerah, pekerja dari perusahaan sekitar, dan masyarakat setempat yang membeli batik dari toko kami di Pengkalan Kerinci.”

Waste disposed is recorded through various means of measurement including estimation of weight by waste type. Particular waste types as described above are measured as a wet waste and converted to a bone dry (BD) weight. The wet waste weight is multiplied by the consistency of each waste type to determine the BD. The consistency is predetermined by the lab.

Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
