Sustainability is integrated into every part of our business – shaping how we grow and evolve to meet market needs while delivering positive impacts for climate, nature and people.
At APRIL, through our Production-Protection approach, we conserve, protect and restore 485,000ha of biodiverse natural forest, including 150,000 hectares at Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER). We are 77% of the way to meeting our commitment to conserve one hectare of forest for every hectare of plantation we manage.
We are also tackling climate change by decarbonising our operations, transitioning to renewable energy sources, advancing peatland science for tropical peatland and achieving net zero emissions from land use. We have ensured no deforestation in our supply chain since 2015 when we adopted our Sustainable Forest Management Policy 2.0 and are working to achieve 18 targets set out in our APRIL2030 commitments launched in 2020 across four areas – Climate Positive, Thriving Landscapes, Inclusive Progress and Sustainable Growth. We are ensuring local communities benefit from our progress by creating sustainable livelihoods and improving lives through better healthcare, education and eradication of poverty.
