We manage 1,423,815 hectares of land supporting a range of activities. Sustainably managed commercial plantations make up nearly 43% of total area under management, consisting of—12 forestry concessions run by us, and 35 managed by supply partners who sell exclusively to us.
Approximately XXXha in 24 community fibre plantations are designated for use by local communities to generate income through the cultivation of timber, non-timber forest products, and other crops. APRIL supports these activities by training of local communities in best-practice forestry and agriculture.
Through our production-protection model, we balance sustainable plantation forestry with ecosystem conservation and restoration..
We are making progress towards achieving or exceeding our 1-for-1 commitment to protect one hectare of natural forest for every hectare of plantation. Funding for conservation and restoration activities is provided by our internal levy of US$1 per tonne of plantation harvested, resulting to date in more than $XX million of funding for conservation activities.
We keep close watch on evolving market needs so we can respond quickly and efficiently. We’ve diversified our downstream offering over the years. In 2018, we added a new production line for viscose staple fibre, and we introduced a new paperboard production line in 2024 to respond to the increased customer demand for sustainable packaging. To support production growth, we have achieved significant increases in the productivity of our plantations, delivering greater fibre supply without expanding our plantation footprint.
Our state-of-the-art mill has an annual production capacity of 4 million tonnes of pulp, 1.15 million tonnes of paper, over 440,000 tonnes of viscose, and 1.2 million tonnes of recyclable and biodegradable paperboard.
Sustainability is also key to our downstream operations. We employ lean manufacturing practices that prioritise efficient energy consumption and responsible water use while minimising emissions. Our operational framework is underpinned by rigorous international certifications, including PEFC Chain of Custody and ISO standards, ensuring our manufacturing processes meet the highest global benchmarks.
