2024年3月18日、NGOグループが表題の報告書(匿名の森林破壊: インドネシア・ボルネオ島のマヤワナ・ペルサダ社による熱帯雨林破壊と社会的な対立)を発表しました。

この報告書では、RGEと原料サプライヤーであるマヤワナ・ペルサダ社、その他の事業体との関係について信憑性を欠く主張が繰り返されています。これらはRGEグループおよびビジネスグループの持続可能性に関するコミットメントに反するという主張です。

これらの様々な主張に対するRGEの明確な反論は、報告書の付属書に含まれています。報告書の中心的な主張に関連して、以下のことをもう一度述べたいと思います:

  • RGEは、RGEおよびその株主とマヤワナ・ペルサダ社間のいかなる所有権または支配形態の存在を断固として否定します。RGEとその株主、およびフェニックス・リソーシーズ・インターナショナル社の間にも、同様の関係性は存在しません。
  • 現在および将来のエイプリル社への原料供給は、主に自社およびサプライヤーの伐採許可地から行われ、増加する原料供給ニーズは、研究開発への多大な投資とベストプラクティスの植林による生産性向上で補われます。
  • 第三者からの調達も含め、エイプリル社へのすべての原料供給は、エイプリル社の「持続可能な森林管理方針2.0」に従って行われ、その方針には、供給元を問わず、サプライチェーンにおいて自然林伐採を行わないことが明記されています。
  • 同様に、将来の生産需要を満たすためにエイプリル社のプランテーション面積を96,000ヘクタール増やすという主張も事実無根です。報告書はこれらの主張の出所や、その分析に対する独立した専門家の精査については沈黙を貫いています。
  • RGEおよびエイプリル社の持続可能性方針は、2015年6月の森林伐採停止日を含め、RGE社の林業・繊維・紙パルプ持続可能性フレームワークおよびエイプリル社の持続可能な森林管理方針における以前のコミットメントに取って代わるものでも、否定するものでもありません。

Particular waste types as described above are measured as a wet waste and converted to a bone dry (BD) weight. The emissions boundary scope covers gate-to-gate (wood processing in wood yard until pulp, paper and viscose production) of the three main GHGs: CO2, CH4, and N2O.

Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
