We’re committed to adopting circular practices that help us recycle waste products, some for reuse, while reducing carbon emissions. This is what defines our chemical reduction and recovery strategy. Under this strategy, we avoid chlorine bleaching methods of production and actively recover soda from our fibre production to refine it for alternative fuel and for reuse in our pulp-making process. We also reclaim the lime by-product from our pulping process and capture the carbon produced by our lime kiln, both being reused elsewhere in our production.
Our commitment to circular production extends to water consumption. While this isn’t an issue at our plantations, which are naturally irrigated by rainfall, our mills are water intensive. To maximise water efficiency, our efforts here include recycling, wastewater management, and upgrades or retrofits of our equipment.
