Grup APRIL berkomitmen untuk menerapkan pertumbuhan berkelanjutan,salah satu dari empat pilar utama APRIL2030, dimana perusahaan bertekad untuk mengurangi emisi karbon secara drastis, mengedepankan konservasi sebagai bagian dari model lanskap proteksi-produksi, mendorong kemajuan inklusif, dan mengembangkan bisnis melalui sirkularitas dan diversifikasi.

Sasaran utama APRIL2030 mencakup nol emisi karbon bersih dari penggunaan lahan, mengurangi intensitas emisi produk sebesar 25%, peningkatan penggunaan energi terbarukan hingga 90%, memastikan tidak ada kawasan lindung yang hilang, dampak positif terhadap keragaman hayati, dan bebas kemiskinan ekstrem di sekitar wilayah beroperasi.

Sejalan dengan upaya masyarakat dunia untuk kembali bangkit usai pandemi, APRIL akan melakukan investasi berarti di Riau untuk mendukung pertumbuhan bisnis dan kebangkitan ekonomi Indonesia tanpa harus melakukan pembukaan lahan baru.

Investasi tersebut akan mendorong produksi dan ekspor produk berbasis hayati dengan nilai tambah lebih tinggi dan mebuka ribuan lapangan pekerjaan. Tak hanya itu, perusahaan juga akan beralih ke sumber energi terbarukan, termasuk pemasangan panel surya 20MW di lokasi pabriknya. Pembangunan panel surya itu digarapkan selesai pada 2025 dan akan menjadi salah satu panel surya milik perusahaan swasta terbesar di Indonesia.

Baru-baru ini, APRIL melakukan Analisis Mengenai Dampak Lingkungan (AMDAL) ketat sesuai dengan persyaratan pemerintah Indonesia sebagai bagian dari rencana mengembangkan bisnisnya melalui diversifikasi lebih lanjut. Upaya itu mencakup konsultasi publik dan prosedur persetujuan lain.

Pasokan serat untuk memenuhi peningkatan kapasitas produksi kedepan akan sepenuhnya berasal dari serat Hutan Tanaman Industri (HTI) dari rantai pasokan APRIL saat ini, di bawah pengawasan ketat tanpa pembukaan lahan baru, sesuai dengan apa yang tertuang dalam Kebijakan Pengelolaan Hutan Berkelanjutan (SFMP 2.0). Perusahaan mencatat peningkatan produksi serat sebesar 29%, yang diperoleh selama tiga tahun terakhir berkat strategi intensifikasi berkelanjutan, optimalisasi lahan, dan efisiensi produksi.

Pada tahun ini, APRIL juga berhasil mencatatkan kemandirian pasokan serat dari konsesi perusahaan serta Mitra Pemasok APRIL untuk produksi bubur kertas saat ini yaitu sebesar 2,8 juta ton setahun.

Pencapaian swasembada serat produksi kami tersebut didasarkan pada rencana pasokan serat jangka panjang perusahaan, yang ditinjau secara independen oleh perusahaan konsultan kehutanan Finlandia, Indufor.

Hasil audit serta perencanaan pasokan serat terkini yang disampaikan kepada Komite Penasihat Kepentingan APRIL pada 2019 dan juga di 2020, meneguhkan pencapain swasembada serat perusahaan pada pertengahan 2021.

Selain itu, perusahaan menargetkan peningkatan produktivitas serat sebesar 50% selama satu dasawarsa kedepan sesuai dengan komitmen APRIL2030. Target tersebut akan dapat dicapai dengan memanfaatkan lahan konsesi yang tersedia dan intensifikasi investasi di pengembangan teknologi terdepan, penyebaran spesies berkinerja yang lebih baik serta mengingkatkan praktik silvikultur.

Selain itu, perbaikan dalam proses produksi konversi kayu kami menghasilkan pengurangan penggunaan serat hingga 10% per ton produksi pulp.

APRIL juga mempertahankan jaringan pemasok pasar terbuka terpilih, dimana mitra tersebut harus patuh pada SFMP 2.0. Pemasok pasar terbuka tersebut juga tercakup dalam audit tahunan KPMG terkait dengan kepatuhannya terhadap SFMP 2.0 APRIL.

Pertumbuhan berkelanjutan APRIL terkait erat dengan komitmennya terhadap perlindungan hutan dan peningkatan pendanaan di alam. Seperti yang tercantum dalam komitmen APRIL2030, perusahaan menargetkan investasi sebesar $ 1 USD per ton serat hutan tanaman industri yang dipanen per tahun
atau lebih dari $100 juta untuk investasi di alam selama dasawarsa ini.

Waste disposed is recorded through various means of measurement including estimation of weight by waste type. Particular waste types as described above are measured as a wet waste and converted to a bone dry (BD) weight. The wet waste weight is multiplied by the consistency of each waste type to determine the BD. The consistency is predetermined by the lab.

The emissions boundary scope covers gate-to-gate (wood processing in wood yard until pulp, paper and viscose production) of the three main GHGs: CO2, CH4, and N2O.

Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
