Grup APRIL telah dinobatkan sebagai perusahaan terbaik di bidang program Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan PBB (UN SDGs) pada acara Sustainable Business Award (SBAs) Indonesia. Penghargaan ini diberikan kepada Grup APRIL atas upaya dan komitmennya dalam menjalankan operasional bisnisnya secara strategis sejalan dengan kerangka kerja global Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan PBB (SDGs).

Dalam acara SBA tersebut, Sihol Aritonang selaku Presiden Direktur Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, perusahaan yang beroperasi dibawah Grup APRIL, menerima langsung penghargaan dari Menteri Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional Indonesia, Bambang Brodjonegoro, dan Shinta Kamdani selaku Presiden Indonesia Business Council of Sustainable Development (IBCSD) di Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. APRIL juga menerima Penghargaan Khusus kategori Tanggung Jawab dan Etika Bisnis.

“Operasi kami selaras dengan visi utama bisnis kami, yakni 5C. Artinya kami beroperasi dengan baik yang berguna untuk masyarakat, negara, iklim, pelanggan kami yang pada akhirnya untuk perusahaan. Nilai-nilai Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan pun selaras dengan visi kami yang mengacu kepada kerangka pembangunan global yang telah disahkan secara universal di 193 negara, dan kami tanamkan kerangka ini ke dalam cara kami melakukan bisnis,” ungkap Sihol.

“Penghargaan ini adalah bukti atas upaya perusahaan yang telah menghubungkan strategi dan kontribusi kami terhadap prioritas-prioritas di tingkat lokal, nasional dan global, lalu menerjemahkannya ke dalam tindakan di lapangan yang memberikan dampak langsung,” lanjut Sihol.

SBA merupakan ajang penghargaan yang diselenggarakan oleh Global Initiatives melalui kerjasama dengan IBCSD dan perusahaan jasa profesional PwC dan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan praktik bisnis berkelanjutan terbaik sekaligus menunjukkan bagaimana bisnis yang bertanggung jawab dan berkelanjutan dapat memberikan keuntungan bagi perusahaan, lingkungan, serta seluruh pemangku kepentingan.

Penghargaan ini juga merupakan bukti dari langkah-langkah yang tengah dilakukan  APRIL bersama PwC  dalam rangka menentukan tolak ukur perusahaan atas kontribusinya di bidang sosial, lingkungan dan ekonomi terhadap SDGs. Penilaian ini kemudian akan  memberikan panduan dalam rangka pengambilan keputusan, strategi, dan program perusahaan yang mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan. Oleh karena itu, APRIL berupaya untuk terus meningkatkan kontribusinya terhadap pencapaian pioritas Indonesia terhadap  SDG di tingkat nasional, provinsi dan masyarakat.

Shinta Kamdani, Presiden IBCSD, mengatakan “Sektor swasta memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam rangka mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan di Indonesia. Peran IBCSD adalah untuk bekerja dengan perusahaan di berbagai sektor bisnis untuk mendorong mereka dalam mengimplementasikan komitmen keberlanjutan ke dalam operasi mereka.”

“Penghargaan SBA ini membuktikan bahwa ada banyak perusahaan yang beroperasi di Indonesia, seperti Grup APRIL, yang memiliki fokus khusus pada peningkatan kinerja mereka, dalam konteks pembangunan berkelanjutan dan SDGs yang ditetapkan oleh PBB,” ujar Shinta.

Sebelum kerjasama dilakukan antara APRIL dengan PwC, Tanoto Foundation juga telah bekerjasama dengan UNDP dan pemerintah provinsi Riau untuk memajukan suatu kerangka kerja tata kelola guna mengimplementasikan SDG di tingkat kabupaten. Antara bulan Oktober 2015 sampai dengan Februari 2017, program pilot multipartner yang memperhitungkan SDG dalam setiap perencanaan dan strategi pertumbuhan telah dilakukan di tingkat provinsi.

Hal ini memungkinkan tiga kabupaten untuk mengoptimalkan pendekatan pengentasan kemiskinan dan pembangunan berkelanjutan. Program ini juga didukung oleh target, indikator, dan dashboard untuk mengelola segala perkembangan yang terjadi. Target-target yang telah dicapai program tersebut diantaranya mengalihkan kepemilikan kepada pemangku kepentingan lokal, dan mengamankan perluasannya ke empat kabupaten hingga 2020.

Particular waste types as described above are measured as a wet waste and converted to a bone dry (BD) weight. The wet waste weight is multiplied by the consistency of each waste type to determine the BD. The consistency is predetermined by the lab.

The emissions boundary scope covers gate-to-gate (wood processing in wood yard until pulp, paper and viscose production) of the three main GHGs: CO2, CH4, and N2O.

Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
