APRIL menegaskan kembali bahwa kebijakan Sustainability Forest Management Policy (SFMP) 2.0 miliknya, akan terus menjadi landasan bagi komitmen terhadap pengelolaan serat dan upaya keberlanjutan perusahaan secara keseluruhan, khususnya ketika rantai nilai perusahaan berkembang dengan mengikutsertakan pelanggan dan pemangku kepentingan dari dalam industri fesyen global.

Komitmen tersebut mencakup upaya tidak melakukan deforestasi dan pengadaan konservasi serta perlindungan hutan dan lanskap lahan gambut yang ekstensif, dengan mengikuti kerangka kerja High Conservation Value (HCV) dan High Carbon Stock Approach (HCSA). Kebijakan ini juga mencakup komitmen pemberdayaan dan keikutsertaan masyarakat, serta pemantauan rantai pasokan, verifikasi, dan transparansi.

Sejalan dengan ikrar untuk tidak mengambil bahan mentah dari area HCV atau HCSA, APRIL akan terus menekankan pentingnya, dan mendukung, integritas ekologi berkelanjutan dan ekosistem hutan yang luas dan utuh [1]. Dengan demikian, APRIL menegaskan kembali niatnya untuk tidak mengambil serat hutan alam dan secara langsung maupun tidak langsung menyebabkan pengembangan konsesi perkebunan baru di dalam Bentang Alam Hutan Utuh (Intact Forest Landscape) di Indonesia atau di tempat lain, khususnya di dalam Ekosistem Leuser, Papua Barat dan Kalimantan.

“Meskipun komitmen kebijakan kami selaras dengan amanat keberlanjutan industri fesyen, kami bersedia untuk melakukan penyesuaian agar komitmen tersebut dapat diperkuat atau ditingkatkan di masa depan, sehingga pelanggan dan merek-merek fesyen memperoleh kepastian bahwa kami turut mendukung agenda keberlanjutan mereka,” kata Lucita Jasmin, Director of Sustainability & External Affairs, APRIL Group.

Pengelolaan Konservasi Tingkat Lanskap

Berdasarkan kebijakan SFMP-nya, APRIL secara khusus mengimplementasikan komitmen 1-untuk-1 yang bertujuan untuk melestarikan satu hektar lahan untuk setiap satu hektar yang digunakan sebagai perkebunan. Sampai saat ini, APRIL sudah mencapai angka 83% dalam memenuhi janji ini.

Mengacu pada catatan keberhasilan proyek Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER), perusahaan secara teguh memposisikan diri dalam mendukung perlindungan dan konservasi tingkat lanskap. Terbentang seluas 150,000 hektar, RER melindungi dan merestorasi salah satu lahan gambut utuh terluas di Sumatera, Indonesia.

“Dengan menggunakan model peningkatan produktivitas sekaligus perlindungan hutan (production-protection), kami dapat menyajikan keseimbangan antara produksi yang bertanggung jawab dan capaian konservasi yang signifikan seluas 370.000 hektar, sekitar 2,5 kali luas London, di kawasan konservasi dan restorasi yang berada di bawah pengelolaan aktif kami,” tambah Jasmin.

Survei yang dilakukan oleh mitra RER, Fauna & Flora International mengkonfirmasi bahwa RER adalah rumah bagi lebih dari 700 spesies dan menyimpan karbon dalam jumlah sangat besar. Tercatat bahwa RER nihil kebakaran dan perambahan selama lima tahun, bahkan ketika Indonesia mengalami beberapa krisis kebakaran terburuk.

Upaya perlindungan dan konservasi tingkat lanskap APRIL, termasuk RER, dijamin dengan investasi USD100 juta selama 10 tahun, yang diumumkan pada Paris Climate Summit pada 2015.

Mendukung Fesyen yang Berkelanjutan

APRIL adalah pemasok signifikan bubur kertas untuk viscose yang terbuat dari 100% serat perkebunan terbarukan kepada Sateri dan Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), yang mana keduanya berkomitmen untuk mengambil sumber daya serat secara bertanggung jawab. Jika digabungkan, Sateri dan APR adalah penghasil viscose terbesar di dunia dengan total kapasitas produksi tahunan mencapai 1,4 juta ton.

Diluncurkan pada tahun 2014 dan terus memperkuat diri pada tahun 2015, kebijakan SFMP milik APRIL menjadi panduan implementasi dari praktik bisnis yang berkelanjutan di keseluruhan rantai pasokan perusahaan serta berperan penting dalam membangun dan mempertahankan kepercayaan pemangku kepentingan.

Kebijakan ini berlaku kepada semua pemasok serat APRIL, di mana pengawasannya dilaksanakan oleh komite penasihat independen dan audit implementasi tahunan yang dijalankan oleh KPMG Performance Register Inc. Kanada. Laporan audit terbaru menegaskan bahwa komitmen utama terus ditegakkan, dan utamanya tidak ada serat dari hutan alam yang digunakan di pabrik APRIL.

Waste disposed is recorded through various means of measurement including estimation of weight by waste type. Particular waste types as described above are measured as a wet waste and converted to a bone dry (BD) weight. Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
