Anggota Aliansi Bebas Api meluncurkan laporan yang memuat sejumlah perkembangan signifikan seperti peningkatan jumlah komunitas yang terlibat dalam kegiatan fire prevention sebesar 24% dari 416 di 2016 menjadi 468 di tahun 2017. Pencapaian ini  adalah poin penting dalam laporan yang dikeluarkan oleh Aliansi Bebas Api sekaligus menunjukan upaya para anggotanya dalam mencegah terjadinya kebakaran dan asap di Kawasan Asia Tenggara sepanjang tahun 2017.

Sementara itu, di tahun 2018 Aliansi Bebas Api juga fokus mengimplementasi enam elemen Program Desa Bebas Api diantaranya pencegahan api dan pengawasan, pengembangan komunitas, penghargaan untuk desa yang menerapkan kebijakan tanpa pembakaran, memberikan bantuan alat mekanik, pelatihan bagi masyarakat agar lebih siaga terhadap api dan memantau asap. Laporan ini akan diluncurkan pada  kuartal  dua tahun 2019.

Pada acara Technical Workshop di Pekanbaru 2017 lalu, APRIL menunjukan komitmennya untuk mendorong kinerja Aliansi Bebas Api melalui penambahan sejumlah perangkat. APRIL juga melaporkan bahwa ada 9 desa baru yang ikut terlibat di Program Desa Bebas Api, serta 77 komunitas tambahan yang bergabung dalam Masyarakat Tangguh Api. Dari 18 wilayah yang ikut Program Desa Bebas Api, 15 diantaranya sukses mendapatkan penghargaan karena berhasil menerapkan kebijakan tanpa membakar.

Untuk anggota Aliansi lainnya, seperti Perusahaan Sime Darby tercatat ada 9 desa tambahan yang ikut terlibat dalam program serupa di wilayah Palembang dan Jambi di tahun 2017, sementara untuk perusahaan Musim Mas dari 70 desa yang menandatangani MO, 45 diantaranya berhasil mempertahankan wilayahnya bebas dari api di tahun yang sama. Sementara untuk Asian Agri, terjadi peningkatan jumlah desa yang terlibat dari sebelumnya hanya sekitar 9 di tahun 2016 menjadi 16 desa sampai dengan tahun ini.

Aliansi Bebas Api merupakan bentuk kerja sama suka rela dari sejumlah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang pertanian dan kehutanan berkolaborasi dengan NGO dan beberapa pihak lainnya. Perusahan tersebut terdiri dari dari APRIL, Asian Agri, IOI, Musim Mas, Sime Darby, Wilmar, IDH dan PM Haze. Para anggota aliansi ini berkomitmen untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan api dan asap di Indonesia yang datangnya dari pembakaran lahan dan hutan, sekaligus juga saling bertukar informasi dan sumber daya guna menemukan solusi terbaik.

Ketua Aliansi Bebas Api, Craig Tribolet, menyatakan, “Keterlibatan komunitas dan konsistensi kerja sama merupakan tujuan utama dari Program Desa Bebas Api dan Aliansi Bebas Api. Fokusnya tidak hanya menekan penggunaan api dalam pengelolaan lahan tetapi juga meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat melalui pendidikan dan capacity building sekaligus mempromosikan alternatif lain selain api untuk kebutuhan peralatan pertanian”.

Method

To quantify the total GHG emission and removals across APRIL’s land bank from land use, APRIL follows the GHG Protocol Agricultural Guidance and IPCC Guidelines for Agricultural, Forestry, and Other Land Use. To detect the land cover change within the look-back period, i.e. 20 years APRIL utilized the remotely sensed data.

The GHG emission will be calculated as the total of carbon stock changes in woody biomass and soil organic carbon and include all major carbon fluxes such as peat decomposition, plantation growth and harvesting, and fires.

To quantify the amount of carbon unit to balance the emission, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), or other internationally accepted standard will be used.
